From a barcode to your own priorities.

Set your profile

Choose the allergens or ingredients you want to check. A general food score does not know your individual needs.

Scan and inspect

Review available ingredients, declared allergens and trace statements. Treat missing fields as missing information.

Verify the package

Check the ingredient list and allergen statement on the product you will actually use, including manufacturer guidance when necessary.

A scan cannot establish absence.

Barcode data may be outdated, a label photograph can omit a line, and manufacturers may change formulations. Undeclared cross-contact cannot be ruled out by a product database or AI explanation.

Peanut, milk, gluten and other terms may appear in ingredient names or precautionary statements. The app can help you inspect these; it does not certify allergen-free food or diagnose intolerance or coeliac disease.

Bring the label back into the decision.

Use ingredient-label scanning to inspect a readable ingredient paragraph when a barcode result is incomplete. Review the text yourself and include the allergen and trace statements in your physical-label check.

Before you scan.

Can Lychee check food allergens?

Lychee helps compare available ingredient, allergen and trace information with a selected profile. It cannot guarantee that a food is allergen-free or detect undeclared cross-contact. Always read the current label and follow your allergy care plan.

What if my product is missing from the database?

Try reading the ingredient label with Lychee. You can also submit or correct product data through its contribution flow. OCR and contributed records need checking; a missing ingredient list should be treated as incomplete data.

Where does Lychee get product data?

Food barcode lookup uses Open Food Facts; cosmetic barcode lookup uses Open Beauty Facts. Label photos use OCR. Lychee applies its own scoring logic and ingredient dictionaries to available information.
