The EU banned it. They're still selling it to you.

Lychee gives you the 1-second cheat code food labels don't want you to have. Scan packaged food first — and when you need it, scan shampoo, deodorant, makeup, skincare, and other beauty labels too.

Scan the label

Point your camera at any food barcode or ingredient label. Lychee also supports cosmetics, shampoo, deodorant, makeup, skincare, haircare, and other beauty products when you need a secondary scan.

02
🔬
We run the numbers

Lychee checks ingredient data against EFSA, FDA, WHO, EWG, and product databases. Processing level, synthetic additives, heavy metal risk, blood sugar impact, and label concerns — all scored in under a second.

03
Get the verdict

A plain-language food score and clear label context first, with secondary beauty-label support for shampoo, deodorant, skincare, haircare, and makeup. No jargon. No guilt. Just the truth so you can decide.

A whistleblower tool,
not a diet app.

Binary fact

Would this be legal in Europe?

Not an opinion. Not a score weighted by a sponsor. One binary fact: the EU banned this ingredient or it didn't. You get that answer every single scan.

Toxins over calories

We don't count
calories. Ever.

Other apps lecture you about macros and weight. Lychee ignores all of that. We only hunt for what actually harms your health: synthetic dyes, heavy metals, FDA loopholes, ultra-processing.

Data, not someone's opinion.

Lychee's score is 100% algorithmic, sourced from USDA, EFSA, WHO, EWG, and product data — updated constantly, never influenced by brand deals.

Beauty labels,
decoded too.

Food scanning is Lychee's core. As a secondary feature, Lychee can also scan cosmetics, shampoo, deodorant, makeup, skincare, haircare, sunscreen, fragrance, and personal-care ingredient labels.

No wall of chemical text. Lychee gives you a number and a verdict before you've finished reading the front of the box. Because you're at the store and only have 30 seconds.

Average scan time

Food is the main event.
Beauty labels are covered too.

Lychee is built first for packaged food scanning. The app also helps decode everyday beauty and personal-care products: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, makeup, skincare, sunscreen, fragrance, body wash, lotion, and haircare. Scan the barcode or ingredient list and get plain-language context before you buy or apply it.

Haircare

Shampoo, conditioner
and styling products.

Use Lychee to translate long haircare labels with surfactants, fragrance terms, preservatives, silicones, colorants, and conditioning agents.

Body care

Deodorant, body wash
and lotion.

Scan personal-care products for ingredient roles, fragrance disclosures, preservative systems, aluminum compounds, exfoliating acids, and other label signals.

Makeup

Foundation, mascara,
lipstick and more.

Lychee helps make makeup labels easier to read by explaining pigments, film formers, solvents, waxes, preservatives, fragrance ingredients, and common sensitivity categories.

Skincare

Moisturizers, serums,
sunscreen and cleansers.

Get context for humectants, emollients, UV filters, exfoliating acids, retinoids, fragrance, preservatives, and other skincare ingredient roles without treating the scan as medical advice.

Built on public data.
Answerable to no one
but you.

Lychee's algorithm is trained on regulatory, food, and ingredient-safety data — not wellness trends or sponsored research. Every score traces back to a primary source you can verify. We publish our scoring criteria openly.

How Lychee’s Health Score Works

Lychee’s Health Score turns complicated food labels into one simple number, from 0 to 100. To calculate it, we look at a product from a few different angles:

Processing

Foods that are more heavily processed usually score lower than simpler, less altered options.

Ingredients and additives

Cleaner ingredient lists tend to score better than products filled with artificial additives or industrial ingredients.

Overall food quality

We look beyond front-of-pack claims to get a more balanced picture of what’s actually inside.

Nutrition

We consider things like sugar, salt, fiber, and protein.

The result is a score designed to help you compare products quickly and make smarter everyday choices. It’s not meant to replace medical advice or tell you a food is “perfect” or “bad.” It’s simply a clearer, easier way to understand how a product stacks up at a glance.

Real questions from
real people.

Yes. Core scanning is completely free — no sign-up, no subscription required. You can scan products and see full health scores at no cost.
Food scanning is the main Lychee feature. Beauty scanning is secondary, but yes: Lychee also supports cosmetics, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, makeup, skincare, haircare, sunscreen, fragrance, body wash, lotion, and personal-care product scanning.
The #1 factor is processing level — ultra-processed foods are immediately penalized regardless of other factors. After that: additive safety ratings, heavy metal risk, blood sugar impact, and artificial ingredient count. The full scoring methodology is published on our website. No calorie data is factored in, ever.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has stricter standards than the FDA for many food additives. Ingredients like Red 40, BHT, and certain preservatives either require warning labels or are outright banned in EU food products — while they're freely used here. Lychee shows you exactly which ingredients in any product fall into this category.
Yes. Lychee's database covers products across North America, Europe, and Australia. Coverage is densest for US products, with European and international products expanding rapidly.
Lychee is independently built. We have zero brand partnerships, zero sponsored placements, and no financial relationships with any food or beauty company. Our revenue comes from users — which means our only obligation is to you.
You can photograph the ingredient label and Lychee will add it to the Open Food Facts database. You can also scan product ingredients for instant results.

You deserve the truth
on every label.
